Table of content: Where to park your car in Barcelona?
Driving to Barcelona: what to expect

If you are visiting Barcelona by car, most situations fall into one of these three categories:
Day visit → you want to park close to the city centre
Staying several days → you are looking for a fixed daily rate or a Park & Ride option
High vehicle (camper or van) → height limits and access rules apply
Below you’ll find the most practical options for each case.
Street parking: blue and green zones
Barcelona mainly works with two paid street-parking zones.
Blue zone (zona azul)
Visitor parking
Time limit applies (usually 1–3 hours, depending on the area)
Payment via parking meter or app
Green zone (zona verde)
Primarily for residents
Área Residente: residents only
Área Preferente: visitors may park, usually at a higher rate and for a shorter time
Important: rules vary by neighbourhood. Always check the sign next to your parking spot for hours and limits.
Reserving a parking space in advance
In the city centre and around Plaça de Catalunya, reserving a parking space in advance can be useful — especially on weekends, during holidays or when events are taking place.
A reservation gives you a guaranteed space and often a fixed daily rate. It is not mandatory, but it can save time once you arrive.
Parking garages in and around the city centre
There are many parking garages throughout central Barcelona. Prices vary, but most garages offer 24/7 access and are within walking distance of major areas.
Historic centre (Gòtic / El Born / Ramblas)
Parking Princesa — Via Laietana 20
Parking Saba Catedral — near the Cathedral (check entrance via Google Maps)
BSM La Boqueria — Floristes de la Rambla 1
Parking Ciutadella — Carrer del Comerç 2
Edge of the centre (easier access by car)
Moll de la Fusta (Port Vell) — convenient if you want to avoid driving through narrow streets
BSM Estació Barcelona Nord — Carrer d’Alí Bei 80 (good option with metro nearby)
Parking if you booked a bike tour with Perry Tours
Perry´s Bike Tours has two fixed starting locations, depending on the tour.
The exact start location is always clearly stated in your booking confirmation.
To make parking as easy as possible, these are the most practical garages per starting point.

Starting point: Plaça de George Orwell (Gòtic)
If your tour starts at Plaça de George Orwell, these garages are within walking distance:
Parking Moll de la Fusta — convenient when arriving via the ring road
Parking Catedral — central location in the old town
Parking Joan de Borbó (Port Vell) — useful if coming from the harbour or coastline
From these garages, it’s a short walk to the meeting point.
Starting point: Carrer del Notariat 6 (Ciutat Vella)
If your tour starts at Carrer del Notariat 6, parking near Plaça de Catalunya is usually the most practical option:
SABA BAMSA Plaça de Catalunya — Plaça de Catalunya, s/n
SABA BAMSA Rambla Catalunya — Rambla de Catalunya 15
SABA Aparcament Mallorca — Carrer de Mallorca 166
SABA Aparcament Plaça Urquinaona — Plaça Urquinaona, s/n
Again, the exact start location and timing are always included in the confirmation.
Parking costs in Barcelona in 2026
Parking prices change regularly and vary by location. As a general indication:
City centre garages: approx. €25–€40 per 24 hours
Hourly rates: usually €2.50–€5.00 per hour
Outside the centre / P+R: generally cheaper, especially for multi-day stays
Think of these figures as a range, not exact prices.
1–5 days parking: Park & Ride (P+R)

If you don’t need your car every day, Park & Ride is often the most practical solution. You park outside the centre and continue by metro or tram.
Common P+R locations
BSM Plaça del Fòrum — Pl. d’Ernest Lluch i Martin → metro L4
BSM P+R Biomèdica — C. del Dr. Aiguader 88 → metro L4
BSM Litoral Port — Av. del Litoral 34 → metro L4
P+R works well if you:
stay several days
prefer not to drive in busy areas
plan to move around on foot or by public transport
Free parking: realistic overview
Free parking in the centre is rare. At the edges of the city, some shopping centres offer limited free parking:
La Maquinista — Carrer de Potosí 2 (free during opening hours)
Diagonal Mar — Avinguda Diagonal 3 (often limited free time, e.g. 3 hours)
These options work best if combined with metro access.
Parking near major sights
Sagrada Família
Several garages are available nearby, but they fill up quickly at peak times.
Beach / Barceloneta
Parking garages along Passeig Marítim are convenient for a few hours or a beach visit.
Camp Nou
Free options may exist outside match days, but availability varies. Expect restrictions and crowds on match days.
Camper vans and high vehicles
Many garages have a maximum height of around 2.00 m. If you are driving a camper or van, always check in advance.
Garages often mentioned for higher vehicles include:
Entença 95 (Eixample)
Urquinaona / Ortigosa area (height may vary by entrance)
Always verify height limits via signs, Google Maps or the garage website.
Low Emission Zone (ZBE)
Barcelona has a Low Emission Zone (Zona de Baixes Emissions).
On weekdays, foreign-registered vehicles must be registered to enter the city.
Parking with an electric vehicle (EV)
Barcelona supports electric mobility, but the charging network is less dense than in Northern Europe.
What to know
Charging points are mainly located:
in parking garages
at shopping centres
at selected on-street locations
Availability is not guaranteed
Outside the centre, charging options become more limited
Combining parking and charging
EV drivers often choose a garage with fixed charging points or check in advance whether charging is available during parking.
The city regularly updates a public map of charging locations.
Electric vehicles are included in the low-emission rules, and registration may still be required for foreign plates.
